We are excited to invite UK based artists to apply for 10 paid commissions as part of one of our new initiatives supported by the Arts Council England Emergency funds.

Procreate Project will award £1000 to each successful artist to cover their fees and production costs.

We want to support artists whose work and lives have been impacted by this time of isolation and extra domestic/care responsibilities. We would like to support the realisation of ideas which have may been stopped by the pandemic, or that have sprung during, and in response to, these times.

“Generally, talents are lost due to caring responsibilities and lack of support and/or because of their lower socio-economic background. Even more now the pressure for them increases hugely. For those with caring responsibilities, an infectious-disease outbreak is unlikely to give them time to develop new work, especially if they are not getting paid for it, or have no opportunities to show it. A pandemic has magnified all existing inequalities.”

We would like to take this opportunity to also support works which relate to subjects usually overlooked in the artworld like, but to limited to:

  • pregnancy, childbirth and breastfeeding politics
  • maternal mental health and domestic labour
  • gender and sexuality
  • body politics
  • climate emergency
  • gender based violence
  • Cultural identity and diversity

Applications in any medium or discipline are welcome and could include painting, digital, performance, sculpure, textile, installation, video.

Also based on the works and the selected artists, we will be working with our advisors and existing partners to maximise the exposure of the produced works and future opportunties, by expanding our pool of supporters, collectors and audience outreach.

You will receive support from Procreate Project team through the procee with regular meetings (using Zoom, or similar) to help develop the content and delivery of your project.
