Interested in themes that relate to sexual trauma and the male gaze, Luisa’s work uses the body as material and creates an interesting intersection between performance, images and sculptural work.

Boneca sets the body and social condition of the woman in evidence, exaggerating a objectification situation. Wearing a beige modelling body, plastic sexdoll mouth and makeup with pink sugar inside my mouth I walk in to the defined spot. When I get there I remain standing still for a minimum period of 100 min, letting the dyed saliva drip out of the plastic doll mouth. I intend to force an unsettling scenario where whatever is the viewers choice about how they will acknowledge the performance that seems to never really start.

I have a thing for sticking my nose where it doesn’t belong and, if death, flesh, sex and porn are male subjects I’m impelled to talk about it all. If our still-patriarchal society wishes not to see the mothers living among men, I feel the urge to bring this subject up any time I have a chance.

South American, mother, feminist. In my artworks I research subjects such as the body, violence, gender issues, sexuality, porn and motherhood. My goal as an artist is to make art that is unsettling, assertive and political.
